Mr. Bramha Dev Sharma (JGEC, Mechanical 1980)
My father was in the Army; settled down at Barrackpore leaving his ancestral roots in present Bangladesh before we were born. We three brothers and one sister had a very humble childhood and youth. Getting in to an engineering college was a lofty dream in the socioeconomic level we belonged; so with my decision my family had to walk those stressful extra miles.
It was 1981, loosing one academic year we left the campus. Next one year I worked as a trainee in companies like, Union Carbide (Dow Chemicals), Bridge & Roof, SAIL, Bokaro and Texmaco. End 1982 I joined ONGC Bombay, offshore operations. Then it was a 25 years long journey touching places like Bombay ( R&D office), Assam (engineering office) and Agartala (operations and Engineering office). In the year 1991 Shipra; also from Jalpaiguri joined me.
In 2008, I accepted to work for SHELL Technologies at Bangalore for their Projects and Technology group. It was December 2016 I hung up my boots, and moved to Jalpaiguri, as per our long term plan. Here my late father-in-law left a house that I had to work upon to our need. Shipra reunited with her friend circle and I got enough of good friends, my maternal relatives, sweet childhood and challenging youth memories and my alumni activity.
As a humble tribute to my father (Late Harendra Nath Sharma); I would like to offer a scholarship to one from a most disadvantaged student / family; who I expect to value good attitude and moral.
Few of my personal traits:
Believe in good and healthy body for a healthy mind.
Believe a better quality of life can be lived by practicing meditation like Vipassana
My hope and political view prioritizes education and equal opportunities for all irrespective of sex, cast, creed and religion and make effort to free our country from corruption.
