[The sponsor of the scholarship is entitled to decide salient selection criteria, which is primarily financial. Out of the available applications, top three students may be called for a face to face interview. A face to face Interview shall be for the final selection and declaration; usually during the month of August while the alumni meet at campus. The interview venue (usually the Alumni House Kanchenjunga), date and time shall be intimated to the shortlisted candidates in due time by email or telephone call. Subject of interview can be academic or general, depending on decision of interviewers.
Selected students must bring with all supporting documents (in original/ attested true copy format) of the submitted information during interview or as informed by sponsor/ alumni association. Student must also collect the following certificates from the respective Head of Departments (HODs) and shall present it before the interview board:
1. Certificate of attendance for the last one year in %.
2. The scholarships they already receive and its detail, even a certificate if no scholarship or financial benefits are received.
3. A certificate of clearing all exams in the college without any back paper or year loss without a proper reason.
A format for this purpose is attached here and a print of the same may please be used for endorsement.
After interview, one or more successful student/s shall be selected for scholarship where the scholarships will be divided among the candidates; decision of sponsor and Alumni Association shall be final. In case telephonic interview is taken, then applicants need to submit supporting documents as informed to them.Applicants shall note that there are no minimum criteria for filling up application form.]

This scholarship is recognition to the student who as the top performer of Joint Entrance Examination in the state (WBJEEE) has joined and continued at Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College for more than one year.

Students who find themselves eligible, are suggested to apply in the given question format. Please upload your ranking information as the answer against the last question “We would like to hear from you why you think you should receive this scholarship.”

Please also note that Your claim may be verified through college authorities.

Scholarship shall be offered usually during the annual Alumni meet every year in the month of August

Mr. Partha Pratim Ghosh (JGEC 1991 ME)

Partha Pratim Ghosh entered JGEC in the year 1987 as a lowest rank holder of WBJEE of all the students who took admission in JGEC in that year and at that time there was only three branches, he took admission in Mechanical Engineering and by virtue of WBJEE rank become “MECH 1”. In the college he served as Magazine Secretary. After graduation from JGEC in 1991 and PGDBM from IISWBM, he served various organizations at different capacity. Besides his profession, he is also a writer in Bengali Language.

This scholarship is in the name his father Late Ajit Kumar Ghosh, who was a victim of the trails of partition in 1947 when he has to leave his ancestral house with many people which is in the present Bangladesh and fought the battle on his own to become successful in his field. He has sacrificed his entire life for the comforts of the people, as a result many people has become what they are now. He is the real star, real fighter whose contribution to the people cannot be described in few words and he lives in their heart for ever.
