[The sponsor of the scholarship is entitled to decide salient selection criteria, which is primarily financial. Out of the available applications, top three students may be called for a face to face interview. A face to face Interview shall be for the final selection and declaration; usually during the month of August while the alumni meet at campus. The interview venue (usually the Alumni House Kanchenjunga), date and time shall be intimated to the shortlisted candidates in due time by email or telephone call. Subject of interview can be academic or general, depending on decision of interviewers.
Selected students must bring with all supporting documents (in original/ attested true copy format) of the submitted information during interview or as informed by sponsor/ alumni association. Student must also collect the following certificates from the respective Head of Departments (HODs) and shall present it before the interview board:
1. Certificate of attendance for the last one year in %.
2. The scholarships they already receive and its detail, even a certificate if no scholarship or financial benefits are received.
3. A certificate of clearing all exams in the college without any back paper or year loss without a proper reason.
A format for this purpose is attached here and a print of the same may please be used for endorsement.
After interview, one or more successful student/s shall be selected for scholarship where the scholarships will be divided among the candidates; decision of sponsor and Alumni Association shall be final. In case telephonic interview is taken, then applicants need to submit supporting documents as informed to them.Applicants shall note that there are no minimum criteria for filling up application form.]

KANTHA 96 is a scholarship program set up by the JGEC 1996 batch to bring smiles in the faces of current students in JGEC like how our alma mater had us smiling in those magical 4 years that we spent together at the college.

With this scholarship, the 1996 batch intends to help two students who have financial hardships in completing their undergraduate courses. The recipients of this scholarship will be able to use this amount to pay for education and other expenses that they would incur in their stay while studying at JGEC.

Who can apply: Any JGEC student (one from 2nd year & one from 3rd year) from any discipline, 3rd Semester onwards, who is performing well and needs monetary assistance to continue their engineering course.

Amount of Scholarship: Rs. 10,000 each to two undergraduate engineering students of JGEC.

It was a very challenging time when we graduated in the year 1996. The economic recession was at a peak. There was a need for new skill sets to cope up with the changing professional world embraced with digitalization. But there were few positive signs as well due to globalization, and the rapid expansion of information technology. We took the time as a challenge. With our sheer passion and inquisitiveness, we gradually started adopting ourselves with the highly expanding globalized world. At the same time, we always kept ourselves connected with our root. The friendship which we cherished during our golden four years at our beloved campus became stronger. JGEC experience helped us to keep ourselves distinct in the exceedingly competitive world. JGEC values taught us to be modest and honest in our all endeavour.
KANTHA 96 Scholarship is a humble effort to encourage our future generation to excel. Two of our batchmates left for heavenly abode but they are with us and always will be in our memories. Name of the scholarship KANTHA 96 has been derived from their name KANAD & PARTHA.
