Mr. Arup Ghosh (JGEC 1994 EE)

Grew up in Durgapur, a small industrial town known for the steel plants, which in those days provided a milieu that was largely working and middle class with old school values. There were people from all parts of india in our neighbourhood, with different cultural backgrounds, but every family, almost without exception, put a premium on education. So grew up to believe that easiest way to secure a decent future is to invest in a good education. After school joined JGEC, and passed out in 1994 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Started my MTech at REC, Durgapur but quit before completing the degree, as I accidentally landed a job in the software industry. A very small firm in Salt Lake, Calcutta that gave me a opening and the opportunity to learn on the job. From then on, have had a couple of change in jobs, moved to Bangalore, got married, became a parent, and somewhere in the way, lost my carefree airs as well as most of my hair.

This contribution is my 'Thank You' to the institution that gave me a fun-filled, rewarding phase of self discovery that lasted four years and lessons and friendships that will last a lifetime. Hope this makes a difference to someone who deserves a little boost on the way towards fulfilling his or her potential.
